In collaboration with the City of Milan and Bel Air Fine Art
The Municipality of Milan i s glad to present the exhibition curated by Francesca Alfano Miglietti (FAM) – Hosted at Palazzo Reale.
In about one thousand square meters, the exhibition proposes to highlight the emergence of new forms of life as they appear today and the change they entail i n the aesthetic canons which have long defined the representation of humanity; and to chart therefore the ‘ new body’ though the powerful evocation of i ts residual traces.
The exhibition originates in the curator's dialogue with the art historian and militant critic Lea Vergine, to whom a nucleus of the exhibition i s dedicated, i n the wish to emphasize her seminal contribution to the theory of Body Art. I n the contemporary aesthetic context, Body Art i s still an essential reference i n the narration of and on the body, together with Hyperrealism – whose works visually convey and represent the contra punctual bodily condition of contemporary human beings.
The Royal Palace of Milan was the seat of government in the Italian city of Milan for many centuries. Today, i t serves as a cultural center and is home to international art exhibitions.
It regularly hosts modern and contemporary art works and famous collections i n cooperation with notable museums and cultural institutions from across the world. More than 1,500 masterpieces are on display annually.
The Palazzo is located to the right of the Duomo's facade, opposite to Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. The facade of the Palazzo creates a recess i n Piazza Duomo which functions as a courtyard, known as the Piazzetta Reale (literally, a "Small Royal Square").
