Carole Feuerman's 2015 IS Day Open Studio Rocked & MANA Lobby Exhibition Happpening Now!

The White Stripes’ music blasted through speakers from Mana’s fourth floor café directly across from Carole Feuerman’s open IS Day studio.

Jack White’s howling guitar was the perfect opening serenade for the chorus of Carole’s sculptures basking in hyper-real, pulse racing resurrection.

During International Sculpture Day at Mana Contemporary in Jersey City, Carole’s Studio was a phantasmagoria of hyper-real shimmering swimmers in prime condition and polished to perfection.  

Free refreshments were served and the crowd gathered to get up close, ultra-access to see Carole’s glowing, sculpted, bodies that flawlessly mirror the human form.

There are certain calendar events that you would kick yourself for missing. Carole’s IS Day celebration at MANA Contemporary was definitely one of those happenings and people knew it. Many took off work, while others drove in from out of state!

If you were at the event and found yourself talking to one of Carole’s hyper-realistic sculptures by accident, don’t worry you’re not alone. One gentleman even humorously confessed his feelings for a sculpture as he took a photo, “You don’t have eyes, but I love you.”

Mana Contemporary is a cultural center in Jersey City, New Jersey.

Opened in May 2011, the center provides services, spaces, and programming for artists, collectors, curators, performers, students, and community. It is conveniently located at 888 Newark Ave, Jersey City.

Once an old Tobacco Factory, the massive space has been turned into a beacon of artistic excellence that beckons all to explore its labyrinth of bold works.

Mana champions sculpture and on IS Day there were over a hundred artist studios open to the public! This free event drew loads of people and as they came through Mana’s doors they were immediately immersed in Carole Feuerman's Lobby Exhibition!

Carole’s Sculptures including, Kendall Island, Next Summer, Diver, and Mona Lisa are the perfect introduction to MANA!

Her dedicated efforts, visible in every hyper-real detail, speak to the aesthetic exertions of her fellow impassioned legions of artists at Mana Contemporary. The building is united in diverse, active creating.

Carole is excited that her Swimmers are on display at her second studio home and will act as welcoming beacons!

 Carole's newest innovation is Kendall's elevated diving board pedestal.

She was inspired after seeing Kendall Island installed on a custom made six foot pedestal in New Orleans as part of the year long Poydras Corridor Sculpture Exhibit.

Kendall’s elevation was especially compelling and Carole wanted to give her that same engaging presence at Mana.

The Lobby Exhibition will run through July.

Miami Highilight: 'Golden Mean' at MANA MONUMENTAL

Carole Feuerman is everywhere in Miami this week- in person and with her artworks showing at various fairs. Among her many works on display, the towering bronze 'Golden Mean' is a fair standout and crowd favorite.

This past weekend, the bronze Golden Mean located in snowy Peekskill, NY received a special visit from its model, Richard Nuzzolese.  This photo was taken on-site:

Creating 'Kendall Island'

A Monumental Statement

As a successful female artist, Carole Feuerman stands as a model figure for younger aspiring women of all concentrations and career paths.  A large part of Carole's success can be attributed to her unwavering persistence and work ethic. These traits along with her natural artistic talent make for an unstoppable combination. In line with her character, a strong theme in Carole's works is indeed that of feminine power and strength, as can best be seen in a piece like 'Grande Catalina,' a monumental female bust which stands proudly at five feet tall.

'Grande Catalina' emerges from her hanging place, as though the wall were the surface of a swimming pool. With eyes closed and head tilted back, Catalina is in a state of total serenity and contentment. Her straightforward orientation reflects idyllic confidence and feminine strength. Towering over the viewer, the piece is rather imposing despite the lack of any violent gestures or expressions.

Carole spent countless hours perfecting the painted surface of this cast resin piece, a true testament to her diligence and mastery of her craft. However, no matter how great her accomplishments may be, Carole will be the first to say that her development is nowhere near complete. She is constantly working to expand and improve with each piece she produces. A truly great artist is always looking to outdo themselves, and Carole continues to do just that.

More Than Mere Fabrication

Carole Feuerman’s Kendall is cast in the likeness of Mana Contemporary’s marketing director, Kendall Tichner. For the sculpture, Kendall donned a swimsuit by Chromat, a designer brand whose mantra is ‘Structural Experiments for the Human Body.’

The contemporary feel of the work (completed this year) is bolstered by Kendall’s confident yet casual pose and the fashion-forward swimsuit.  A piece like this exhibits the artist’s tap on the vein of current trends in fashion and art.

A common practice for greats such as Warhol and Rauschenberg was to involve and integrate figures they met through the art scene, into their works. This took shape in many forms; for example, critic Henry Geldzahler appearing in a Warhol film or Rauschenberg collaborating with dance legend Merce Cunningham in a performance. The spirit of this union between the artist and art enthusiast is paralleled in Kendall- an act of homage on Carole’s part, and a showing of loyalty from the model’s end.
